In central Kyiv, a Russian drone attack damaged the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. According to preliminary information, the strike occurred during an air raid alert, leading to a large fire in the historic building.
Local authorities reported that in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, a drone struck a non-residential building, causing a blaze. People were inside at the time of the attack and had to escape through windows due to the fire.
The Shevchenkivskyi District State Administration confirmed that the attack resulted in fatalities and casualties. The exact number of victims has not been disclosed. Rescue services continue to work at the scene.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported the attack on the central part of the city. The academy building is located near Khreshchatyk, next to the German Embassy in Ukraine.
