Zelensky and Merz visit site of Russian strike on Kyiv Academy of Sciences
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived on Sunday, 4 October, at the site of a Russian drone strike on the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. The attack killed two people and injured seven others. Zelensky said the strike was deliberate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sunday, 4 October, visited the site of a Russian drone strike on the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. The visit took place despite an air raid alert and new attacks in the area.
As a result of the strike on the building of the National Academy of Sciences in the Shevchenkivskyi district, two people were killed and seven others were injured. During the debris clearance, rescuers recovered the body of one person; emergency rescue operations have been completed.
According to Zelensky, the strike was aimed specifically at the academy and was intentional. He noted that there is corresponding video evidence. The Academy of Sciences building was completely destroyed.
Merz began his visit to Ukraine by honouring fallen Ukrainian defenders. Zelensky thanked the chancellor for his support and stressed that decisions are being prepared to strengthen the capabilities of Ukraine and Europe.
