Zelensky and Merz visit Kyiv academy site hit by Russian drone
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sunday, 4 October, visited the site of a Russian drone strike on the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. The attack killed two people and wounded seven others. Zelensky said the strike was deliberate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sunday, 4 October, visited the site where a Russian drone struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. The inspection took place during an air raid alert.
The attack killed two people and wounded seven others. According to the president, the strike was aimed specifically at the academy and was intentional, with corresponding video evidence available.
Zelensky thanked Merz for visiting despite the attacks and called it a "needed and brave signal" from the chancellor personally and from all of Germany. During the meeting, the sides discussed a new support package for Ukraine.
Across the city, as a result of the morning attacks, people were affected on the Pivnichnyi (Northern) Bridge, and in the Darnytskyi district drone debris fell on a parked car and the grounds of a school.
