MiG-29 pilot Marat Mambetov killed during combat mission

On 1 October, Captain Marat Mambetov — flight commander of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade “Ghost of Kyiv” — was killed while carrying out a combat mission.

The pilot, flying a MiG-29, was conducting missile and bomb strikes against Russian forces on one sector of the front. During the mission, the aircraft was struck by an enemy missile.

Marat Mambetov ejected, but did not survive. The death of the pilot was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
