On Tuesday, September 29, Russian forces struck civilian infrastructure in Sumy. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, four guided aerial bombs hit the city center, including a school building where classes were in session.
As a result of the attack, two people who were in their homes in the private sector were killed. After the strike on the school, six people sought medical assistance, including three children. All are receiving necessary care.
At the moment of the impact, about 40 students were in the school shelter. According to preliminary data, the children were not harmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a total of 100 people were evacuated in time.
Additionally, in the morning in the Kovpakyvskyi district of the city, a Molniya-type drone struck near a nine-story building. The apartment block and cars were damaged, and windows were blown out. Two civilian men sustained shrapnel wounds and were taken to hospital. Rescuers and emergency services are working at the scene.
